Key-match Search does what it sounds like. When you key into any (enabled) display column of a DataView (even a column containing data, such as names), using either the numbers or letters expected, then an automatic search begins. This search will land you on the first detail line (or lines) containing what you have just keyed in.
(The Key-match Search is not case sensitive - you do not need to type capital letters.)
For instance, to search for a Work Order with the Customer Name "Nelson, Wilma," click anywhere on the Customer Name column in the DataView and start typing the name. The automatic search will locate the matching record.
Notes:
• | The search only takes effect on the number of records currently loaded for the view. If you have specified Max Records 200 in the upper right corner, then it will only be searching through that set of records, even though there may be 395 records in the database. |
(To search all records, you must either set Max Records high enough to include all records or use the Next button to get the next set of Max Records and then search that set also.)
• | The key-match search only works on DataViews that are for Detail Display (not Direct Data Entry). |
• | Not all column fields have the screen design "enabled" to all Key-match search. |
